Kos Day Trip from Bodrum
SATURDAY / JOURNEY TO THE VILLAGES AND GREEN NATURE OF KOS: PLATANI VILLAGE – TIGKAKI – ZIA VILLAGE – PYLI VILLAGE – ANTIMACHIA – PLAKA FOREST – MASTIHARI – LIDL MARKET – JUMBO MARKET
After completing our customs procedures at Bodrum Port at 07:30 in the morning, we begin our blue voyage across the Aegean Sea toward Kos, one of the most visited islands of the Southern Aegean. Upon arriving in Kos, the birthplace of Hippocrates, known as the father of medicine, we complete the customs procedures and start our city tour with our guide to discover the island of Kos. During this enjoyable walk, we first see the Historic Kos Castle (Kastro Neretzias), which welcomes us as we approach Kos Harbor. Afterwards, we photograph the thousands-year-old Hippocrates Tree, believed to be the place where Hippocrates taught his students under its shade, crowning Plateia Platanou Square. We continue our city tour by seeing landmarks such as the Police Station built during the Italian occupation period, the Roman Agora, Eleftheria Square, Gazi Hasan Pasha Mosque, Defterdar Mosque, and the Municipal Market (Dimotiki Agora). After completing the Kos Island city center tour, we begin our island discovery tour. Our first stop is today’s Platani Village, formerly known as Kerme, where Kos Turks once lived densely, giving us the opportunity to closely explore the village. Then, after seeing Tigkaki Beach, we continue our journey to Zia Village at the foothills of Mount Dikeos to experience the green nature of Kos more closely. During this journey, we enjoy the views of Kalymnos and Pserimos Islands as well as the Salt Lake located at Tigkaki Beach, the island’s only lake. Upon arriving in Zia, we stroll through the village streets and enjoy our coffee at a scenic restaurant. After our pleasant time in Zia Village, we pass through Pyli Village and head toward Antimachia. Once we arrive in Antimachia, we visit the village’s famous windmill and take memorable photographs. Following these delightful moments, we visit a local shop where we can taste Kos’s famous honey and purchase island-specific souvenirs. Afterwards, we continue toward Plaka Forest to further explore the lush nature of Kos. Famous especially for its peacocks, this forest offers us the chance to see dozens of freely roaming peacocks along with many other adorable animals. After a pleasant walk through the forest accompanied by peacocks, we head toward Mastihari, one of Kos’s famous beaches known for its fine sand and crystal-clear sea. Upon arriving in Mastihari, we take a short walk along the beach and have lunch at one of the seaside tavernas. During lunch, guests who wish may also enjoy swimming at Mastihari’s beautiful beach. Afterwards, we say goodbye to Mastihari and continue to Lidl and Jumbo Markets for shopping. We first stop at Lidl Market and then at Jumbo, where we have plenty of time for shopping. After our enjoyable shopping tour, we board our ferry back to Bodrum. Upon arriving at Bodrum Port, after a short duty-free shopping break, we bid farewell with the hope of meeting again on another FMA TRAVEL tour.
